Water and little cowgirls!!

Yesterday we got the little cowgirl a small pool. She just loves the water!! I guess I am a mean mom, because I will not get a bigger pool. But like I have time for the upkeep and maintenance! With this one you fill with water, if it gets dirty dump water and fill back up! No chemicals! And of course it can be the water hole for the dog as well! Because no matter how hard you try to keep them out they are going to get in! She had a great time yesterday after I got it blown up and water in it! I was watching her play last night in it and I said I wonder if I walked the horse through it would it rip the liner? She looked at me and said this is my pool, you buy Angel her own!! LOL! It does resemble what a water box looks like in a extreme race. We have not actually done a water box obstacle, but there is going to be water at the big race I have coming up in July. I figure it will be something like a water box as they are doing it in the arena. Speaking of boxes, I am going to get on my soap box for a minute! This year she outgrew the swimsuit she had been wearing the last couple of years. So we head off to Walmart to get her a new one. Well, 45 minutes and about 12 bathing suits later I finally found one! Needless to say, I was shocked to see the suits they had for little girls! She picked up several she liked and then would turn the back to me and there was not one, it was cut down to there cracks. And the bikinis, there is nothing to them! UGH! Even the ones we thought looked okay on the hanger, when she would put them on they were cut down to there cleavage in the front. What the heck, they don't even have any! One really cute bathing suit has cut so high up on here hips, half your bottom was hanging out! What in the world were they thinking when they made these suits for little girls? Clothes the same way, when I started shopping in the girls section I was shocked! The jeans are very low cut, short skirts (no built in shorts underneath!) and the tops are cut to hit right at there waist! That bugs her as she can not tuck them in! What do you think? I have a problem with it, but unlike others I will cave into peer pressure and buy that stuff for her! So many moms I have talked with around here say that since everyone else is doing it, it is okay. It is the times! What the heck? I even had one mom to go so far and tell me I was hindering her as I would not let her wear and do some of the things her friends do. I say again What the heck? My child is no different for me not letting her wear or do certain things! That is crazy! She does not even ask and she knows that is not something she should be wearing, nor does she want to. I feel that they are wanting our little girls to grow up way too fast! Or am I just old fashioned? END RANT!! Anyway here are some pics from yesterday. Hope you all are having a great weekend, I am so looking forward to the summer with my little cowgirl!
UM, Excuse me horsey mom, did you forget something!?!?!?! They were all hanging out right by the fence, but these 2 nosey ones was really watching her and what we were doing! I have been feeding them later in the evenings since it has been so hot, but they are reminding me (like I would forget!) that they haven't been feed this evening yet!
Shelby looking at me like Can I get in? Sure you can so off she goes into the water! She was enjoying herself and then stopped and rested her head on the side of the pool and look what happened! Savannah say a opportunity and used her like a bridge! She would swim underneath her and back over and over! You see the look on Shelby's face?! I think she is saying, Look at the things I do for this little one! LOL!

Those are some way cute pool pictures. I am with ya on the little girl clothes being way too grown up. I never wore a two piece suit. My mom would not alow it. I think people want their kids to grow up way too fast. My little girl is only 9 months old. I am not looking forward to buying her clothes, let a lone a bathing suit.

I'm with you on the clothes as well. Heck, I don't even like Rachel at 15 wearing that stuff. That old argument "everyone is doing it" just doesn't cut it. That's just an excuse for not being a responsible parent. Can you tell......this is a rant for me too! If people would not buy that crap, the manufacturers would get the hint and make appropriate clothes.

Girl-you hit on a hot topic. It is really difficult to find clothes that are cute but not so "revealing". I don't mind Megan having close fitting tops-they are cute on her, but she is always having to layer tanks under her shirts to cover up the "cleavage" and the belly. And the pants-hey if you can see the panties when they are standing up-can you imagine what you are going to see if they bend over or sit down?
Thank goodness when it comes to swimsuits she prefers board shorts to the bottoms they provide.

Send some warm weather this way-I can't even imagine being in a pool as cold as it has been here-LOL.

Thank you, I feel the same way! It is too bad that todays "little girls" clothing is so "grown up" Some of it I wouldn't even wear! I was at the store yesterday, this mother and daughter walked in. The girl was maybe 13 or 14? Her shorts were so short! and she had a itty bitty tank top on(above the belly button!) And thick wedge sandals! Are you kidding? As a mother who has a daughter, I would burn those clothes! I don't understand either!

Its funny you should mention that about the little girls swim suits- I was watching The View with my daughter this morning and they were talking about how they make bikini/thong panties for little girls!! Isnt that just aweful! I was never allowed to wear a bikini and my daughter never wanted to. I know Savannah will enjoy her little pool this summer! Cute pics!

I totally agree with your rant and could rant a lot about it myself given half a chance! ha! My grand daughter is 6 and some of the bathing suits they have in the stores for her age are horrible! I'm with Rising Rainbow if people would stop buying that kind of stuff the manufacturers would stop making it! Lets keep our little girls looking like little girls not mini grownups!

Everyone seems to be on the right track about the clothing; when you look at what they are trying to sell to our daughters it is plain to see that the sexualization of young children is the agenda. No wonder there are so many problems with pornography and other sex crimes when the creeps in marketing don't have a conscience! It's up to good families to teach their children morals and values. Good for all you moms who aren't caving in to this; promote modesty!(End Rant!!!)
Great picture of Savannah swimming under the dog! Such an obliging dog.

Totally agree with the rant. I remember when Zoe hit the age of 11-13 and went through the "punk" stage. We let her and she out grew it. A smart kid at University now and never a naughty day, knock on wood. Thankfully, even those few years ago, I think the clothing wasn't quite so revealing. Let little girls be little girls! They'll be plenty of time for those kind of clothes when they hit their 20's, although mine still hasn't done that. Yay! Poo Poo on that other Mom!

That pool looks like loads of fun! I told my sister she needs to get one for her Aussie Sadie, who loves the water!
I agree with you about the clothes...you are not old-fashioned! Kids these days wear things that are not appropriate. I have 4 and 5 year olds that wear spaghetti strap tanks to school. That is appropriate for home or the park, but not school! Savannah is lucky she is not growing up too fast. She has a good mommy!

I have to agree with you on the clothes thing too! The pool looks refreshing!

I think the clothes for little girls, teenage girls and even adult women are ridiculous these days. Some of us just don't want our ummmm behinds or bellies hanging (or in my case sticking) out. Thanks goodness my daughter doesn't like the tight and short stuff but does have a few too skimpy for my taste shirts.

I am not sure why stores even carry skimpy outfits for little girls. It does not make sense to me - they don't even like boys at that age!! Not to mention, with all the sicko pedophiles out there, we do not need to be dressing our little girls with such revealing clothes!!
Very cute pics of the dog and Savannah! Dogs just seem to know, don't they?

I'm with you on the "quality" of girls' clothing these days. We havea 12 year old (who wears a size 10 slim) and it's slim pickins' for her. Have you tried Kohls or JC Penney? We seem to have good luck there. Also, if you hit a sale at Dillard, you can find some really nice things.

Thank goodness I have a boy instead of a girl. Girls clothes are wayyy out there today! I've seen girls wear clothes that adults shouldn't even be wearing in public! Good grief!

You have such a sweet faced dog! She looks like a big 'ol softie.

I totally know what you mean about this. Mercy hasn't gotten into those suits yet, she's still wearing a nice lil Finding Nemo number, but I had to have a new suit for Disneyland and I could not find anything with a crotch bigger than 1 inch. You know, I'm athletic, and if you move wrong, you're showing WAY more than I prefer. What's up with these suits???? UGH!
Anyway, good pics, looks like Savannah and Shelby are having a blast!!!
