Award & comment moderation

Thanks to Midlife Mom for my award! I think she pretty much tagged everybody already! She created this award for all the horse lovers out there! If you would like it take a copy or visit her site to get it. She has 2 different styles!

On another note I am having to enable my comment moderation. The last few posts I have gotten less than desirable sites making comments. All they say are click here or see this. I did and was appalled at what it was. My sister has done a post on her blog about the same thing. I know I am not the only one out there with this and wonder why on earth would anyone do that. It is really irritating and upsetting thinking some ones child could have accidentally clicked on one of those. Savannah loves to read the comments with me and I would be horrified if she had seen them. Sorry if this causes any problems for anyone, but I wanted to let you all know and keep a look out for these creeps!

SAN ANGELO GIRL'S ROAD TRIP

We got back Sunday night from our girl's trip! We had a blast! The ranch is just beautiful and we saw so many different kinds of wild animals. The ranch has been in there family for hundreds of years. It has a rich history behind it and I loved hearing from her Dad the many stories about it. They have over 150 head of wild horses living there. Tons of deer, sheep, goats, rams, turkeys, armadillos, rabbits, porpucines. We rode every day and did alot of sight seeing of the land as well. We would ride around on the Ranger looking for bones, etc and we chased a boar hog across the field. It was great! He lost us in the brush, but we almost had him! We found numerous kinds of bones and things and brought them back with us. Savannah has show and tell for the rest of the year! We went to the Stock show and rodeo on Saturday night. Sunday we visited the San Angelo Cowboy Church, they just started meeting about a month ago. We had a great time and wonderful fellowship. I could not thank Robin and her Dad enough for letting us come out to there beautiful ranch. What a blessing it was! I will say if Savannah was not in school they would have had to kick me out and tell me it was time to go home!! I took a ton of pics, but tried to pick a few to share with you all today. I will have to post the others some other time!

GIRL'S ROAD TRIP!!

FYI-Me and Savannah along with my good friend Mary are going on a girl's road trip! Woo Hoo! We will leave this Thursday and be gone till Sunday afternoon. I am hoping to blog while there, but not sure of the computer and internet services. We are going to San Angelo to visit Robin and there ranch. While there we will ride, go to the rodeo, see the sites, and have great fellowship. I am taking my mare with me to ride, I am excited about that! I have never been to San Angelo and I am thrilled to have this oppourinty! (sp?) I will miss each of you while I am gone.

Figured I would do my Wordless Wednesday while I am at it! Tomorrow is going to be a busy day! This is "Shelby" the Aussie! I was trying to get her to bring the baby to me. She was trying so hard and she was not having any luck! "Willis" would just look at her like she was crazy and stand there! She would lay down and look at me like, mom I need some help here! Poor girl! She is coming along and doing well. Hubby is going to take her day working with him and let her run with our friend's Hanging Tree Dog. "Chuck" is one extradionary dog. Sorry it was not so Wordless!

Top 5 Pet Peeves

Mikey over at The Horseshoeing Housewife has tagged me to list my top 5 pet peeves or causes for irriation. So here goes................

  1. When hauling horses or cows and these wonderful people who think they need to pull in front of you and slam on there brakes! Oh or ride your bumper or try to cut you off! Oh the list could go on and on. That REALLY irriates me!
  2. Being late-drives me nuts!
  3. When people tell you they are going to do something, then does not!
  4. Animal abuse/cruelty
  5. People who pretend to be something or someone they are not! God made each of us very different, be yourself! Your true friends will love you for who you are!

Hubby walked in and saw my list and wanted to add his #1 pet peeve! So here it is:

  1. When he used to drive cow trucks and someone was in front of them going 30 mph. When he got to where he could pass they would sped up! I am sure he made alot of people mad, when they realized they were not going to win!

Well, there you have my list and I am sure it just made your day! I think everyone has already been tagged. But if you have not please do your list and let me know! Have a great and blessed day!

Mike's Hatters

I am posting today about a great man who makes custom cowboy hats. He is Mike Helms from Mike's Hatters in Longview. I am always having people ask me or comment about my felt hat and palm leaf that I wear. So, the last time we were there getting hubbies hat reshaped. I took pictures of the man in action! We have ordered several custom hats over the years and have gotten palm leaf hats from him as well. What I like is the colors you can pick from for the binding on your hat. My felt is chocolate and pink and my palm leaf is trimmed in pink as well. He travels to alot of shows throughout the year and is always busy. He does a extradionary job on his hats!

Mike in action! Hubby and Mike *notice hubby is so thrilled about having his pic taken!*

Future Trick Rider?!?!?!?

Today we had our play day after church. I am not sure how it came up, but Savannah started standing on her horse and then she is riding backwards and I missed the picture of her laying back in her saddle with her feet on the horses neck. She was showing everyone that she could stand on her horse, so Ginger started announcing she was going to be a trick rider someday. That is what she has been talking about all day. I can say mom isn't ready for this!

My Bucket List

One Cowgirl has tagged me to do my bucket list. The list is named after the movie and is all the things you would like to do before you die. So, here is my list of things I would like to do/accomplish before I die.

  • Would like to grow old with hubby
  • Own a large cow/horse ranch
  • Ride bridleless and bareback (Stacey Westfall rocks!)
  • to always continue to improve my horsemanship/riding (never stop learning or tyring new things)
  • Always wanted to ride my horse along the beach
  • to be a great Christian role model for my children
  • to win a buckle
  • to see my husband's dreams come true
  • to see/help cowboy churches to continue to grow in Texas and throughout the country

Here is my list and I am sure I will be adding things as times goes on. But this are the first things that came to my mind I was tagged. Hope everyone in bloggerville has a great and blessed day!

HIGH FASHION

Just thought I would let you all know that in the country we do know a thing or two about fashion. Here are just a few examples of how the little cowgirl dresses to go and do chores around here! So when this catches on, you can say you saw it first here! I didn't bore you with pictures of what I have been known to go and feed in! Hubby really loves the animal print rubber boots I wear!

Women's Retreat

The 2 day old horse colt and mama
On Saturday we went to a women's retreat at Beulah Land Ranch in Lindale, Texas. The guest speaker was Michele Carson one of the founders of Cowgirls of faith organization. She was wonderful, message was divine and fellowship was outstanding! We had a great time! Leave it to Savannah to go and befriend the owners and find a 2 day old horse colt and get a private tour of the place! She was at home! (I have no idea where she gets it!?!?!-LOL) After lunch she takes me out and shows me the animals. She has named the horse colt "Domino!" After the day was done the owner treated us to a wagon ride-pulled by 2 Clysdales! They were so awesome! They took us in 2 seperate trips and showed us some of there horses, which were Drafts, Perchron and some half Perchron and Quarter Horse. Cowgirls of Faith is a great organization for women. Sterling Grace made a charm for the Cowgirls of Faith and it is a cross with a horseshoe hung on it. I was able to get one and love it. It is called Ridin with the Lord. It has a card that comes with it and I wanted to share what it says with you. ....let us throw off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run the race that is marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1. Many times the Christian life is referred to as a race. Not a short sprint, but a long race that requires patience, persistence, and endurance to complete. Just as the horseshoe protects the horse's hoofs and is an essential part of preparing him to run, God's word protects our hearts and minds and prepares us to the run the race that Christ has marked out for us. This piece should remind you to saddle up each day with God's word so that one day you can say, "I have finished the race and have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7. I hope each of you had a great and blessed weekend.

Savannah standing next to "Colby"! They were just beautiful and so sweet! They had the biggest feet I have ever seen!
