Got her picked up this morning from the vet and home safely. She is going to have to be confined for 2 weeks and have the sutures out in 3 weeks. There is alittle bit of swelling and leakage from the site. She was happy to see me and irritated on the same note. I'm sure for leaving her there! He did say it would be alittle uncomfortable for her. When I was settling her into the lot with hay and water, she seemed to be at ease to be home. She was following me around and loving on me. That's my girl! Here is what it looks like! Dr. Thoni did say that after surgery, he took the scar tissue and was checking it, just to make sure what it was. It was a puncture wound or bite wound that had abscessed and gotten infected and he thinks the friction from the girt caused irritation and made it bigger. He did say he got it all and it shouldn't come back.
Hope you all have a great and Happy New Year! See ya next year!

WoW...that's huge!!! I had visioned something much smaller in my mind. Poor girl...no wonder she was uncomfortable.
The future is looking bright for her now!!
Happy New Year to you too~~
Oh Dear, hope she recovers quickly! And all is well! Happy New Year! And the best wishes for a healthy and happy year for all!
Glad to hear it was something fixable! I bet she is so happy to be home.
Happy New Year!

Poor Angel....that looks painful! Hopefully she recovers soon!
Glad to hear that your Angel is doing ok. I know how it is to worry about them and they can't tell you about what hurts.
Looks like you may have a Annie Okley on your hands! Love to you all and hope you have a Happy New Year. Becca
Glad your Angel girl is back and will be on the mend! What an ordeal. So stressful when our equines have to go through vet care.
Oh~ I love that picture of you two in the last post!!
Happy new Year to you and yours!!!
Oohhh, poor baby! That looks uncomfortable. Glad she's home safe.

I'm so glad your baby is home and doing well. So happy that it all went well and that she will soon be on the mend. That was quite an incision. Yikes! She will need all kinds of TLC as if she didn't get enough already, right?!
It's minus 40* wind chill factor here today! Brrrrrrrrrr!
Glad you have her home! Bet you check girth areas now! Hope your ear infection is gone.
That is so crazy that a puncture wound or a bite could do all that! Crazy!! I am glad you have her back home and getting her all better!
I hope you all had a great New Years!!
Thank heavens you were knowledgeable enough to realize that the mare wasnt just acting out! That is a nasty looking suture. I'll bet you even be able to see it when it heals. A happy and prosperous new year!
That is definitely a bigger hole than what I thought it would be, but I am sure she will heal fine. Bet you are as glad to have her home as she is to be home.
I'm glad your baby is back home and mending nicely. We love our babies.
