Heading out~"Roo" striking a pose for the camera! We had just entered neighbor's pasture at this gate.
Riding threw the clear cut looking for signs of cows, none! Just a bunch of feathers! (he used chicken manure!) Hubby trying to cut his way through the vines. Needless to say his place is overgrown! I am a nice wife and let hubby go first! Doesn't always work as I had to cut myself and "Angel" free a couple of times!
Wait what is that I see? I think it is one of the wild bovines we are looking for! Oh and look there is more!
We finally saw the cows~they had brushed up in the woods. So I went to may spot and hubby went to find a way to get behind them and push them out. My job is to be seen and count the cows! When he got all of them out, we started easing them through the pasture and back around to the gate. I had to put my camera up as I had to run ahead and open the gate! We got all the cows back to where they belonged and didn't get heat stroke doing it! LOL!! We had been checking fence as we were riding through our place to get to the neighbor's gate and hadn't seen any fence down. Come to find out he had just had some of his place clear cut and had planted some hay and the workers (idiots!) had left the gate open. That is good news to find out, as that means we were done and didn't have to fix fence!!! Woo Hoo!

glad you got them all back in safe - major bonus that you didn't have to fix the fence too.
we only hit 114 today at our house. i stayed inside as much as possible and was only out long enough to feed! :)
Glad you got them back without too much trouble! We had a bull get out this afternoon with MUCH fence to fix. (sigh) Tommorrow!
Ughhh...the heat has been ugly. Can't say that I envied you guys. Glad all went well though. Now people can see why you all use Catahoulas in that part of the country-LOL.
UH, what a day! All for a carelessly left open gate. Well, I'm glad you got the cows back with with no poison ivy? and heatstroke!
Hi there! I'm very glad you didn't have any repairs to make, but boy, 103?! I think I would have wanted those cows to find their own way back! LOL!
Hasn't been that hot here for years! At least you didn't have to work your horses too hard in the heat. Good job!
I hate it when cows get out...it's always at the worst time (like there is a good time for them to get out?).
No fence fixing....woohoo is right!!!
I didn't realize you had any cattle. Must have been hard to be of any help with all the pictures you have to take.
What an adventure! I would have been affraid of bananna spiders. Those things love woods like that. I am glad you didn't get poison ivy or heat stroke!!
Some people just don't know the rules of ranches, if a gate is closed when you open it then always close it behind you! Our farrier did that, left a stall door unlatched, with our paint stud in it, and needless to say our paint stud got out and bred three of our broodmares. Nice!!
Good grief!!! Glad you wrangled those wild bovines without incident! and no fence to repair!
Don't you just love it when people so kindly leave the gate open?
It's heating up in Oregon too, but luckily it's not going to be that hot(I hope!!). Glad you avoided the heatstroke and poison ivy!
Lovly pictures, by the way!!! I love the ones where you can see Angel's(?) head.
Oh my! Glad you were able to get them all back in, and not have to do any fence fixing!!
hunting for cows in 103 weather - hot, hot, hot!! I hate it when folks don't close gates!! And so does Dudley!
We all need a little excitement every now and then.

What an adventure! I can remember, as a youngster, being awakened early in the morning because the horses had gotten out of the pasture. But when we got to them, we got to ride 3 of them back to the pasture with all of the others following. That was a fun adventure, once we knew they were all safe.
You get to do the funnest stuff :) Glad you didn't have to fix fence, that's a bonus!
Oh my I can so relate!! We have rope steers! They have gotten out...3 or 4 times since we got those darn creatures!! They have pushed through our fence, and then someone left the gate open, And those darn things RUN when they see you comin! hmmm... I wonder why that is!? LOL!! Glad you didn't have to fix fence!
"Till the cows come home" indeed! I can't even imagine how HOT you must have been.
A good job well done!
Sure glad everything turned out well.
Loved the pic of you(?) bending to close the fence. I mean, i like pictures that are posed for, those are the best kind.
