CURLIES!!!

This look came from her dad! I could not pass this up! I just love to watch her sleep-they are so precious!

Last night Savannah informed me she wanted "curlies". Now you ask what are curlies? Well, do you remember the pink foam rollers our mother's used to use in our hair? Well they still make them, but they have blue, yellow, green and pink curlers in all different sizes. So we rolled her hair last night and she actually keep them in all night. And this morning we had "curlies!" She was so excited and looked too cute! It was diffidently a trip down memory lane for me, my mom used to curl my hair with those foam rollers as a child. Man do I remember sleeping in those and the next morning I had curls everywhere!! Hope you all have a great and blessed day!

SNOWING IN EAST TEXAS!!

What does a little cowgirl do with the snow on her hat? Lick it off of course!

It is snowing here in East Texas, not unusual or uncommon for some places. But in East Texas we do not get that much snow! To quote my daughter "Thank you God for giving us snow!" She has been praying for snow for awhile! Well, here are a few pics from when we went to feed a few minutes ago. The horses are feeling good and had to show off there bucking skills. Hope you enjoy the pics and have a great and blessed weekend!!!

PLAYDAY AWARDS/1ST PLAYDAY OF THE YEAR

End of the day! Me & hubby!

Doing ribbon race My friend Mary & "Santana"

Me & "Angel" barrels Savannah doing flag race
Leaving the arena! Hubby doing barrels!

Yesterday at church we had our end of the year awards for '07 play days. We have play days every 2nd Sunday of each month. There are 3-4 events at each one and they range from: barrels, poles, pony express, ribbon race, shovel race, obstacle course, etc. We have a wonderful couple who do such a great job of putting them on! It is a great day of horses, fun and fellowship. Savannah got 3rd place in her age group and won a green/black quirt/whip (sp?) and I won 3rd place in my age group and won a hoof pick with a praying cowboy/horse at the cross. The events yesterday were barrels, flag race, ribbon race and obstacle course. Savannah did the flag race and barrels. She did a great job! Me and hubby did ribbon race together that is where you have a piece of crepe paper and can not break it while doing the pattern. The other picture is of me and my good friend Mary doing the ribbon race-we actually bet hubby and mine's time!! She is my riding partner and such a encourager - I treasure our friendship. We ride together all the time at the play days and our horses have been affectionately named "Satan" & "Angel". Her horses name is "Santana", but the play day bunch likes to harass us and they came up with it! We did all the events and had a great time! Hope you all had a great and blessed weekend!

HAY, SUN AND HORSES

"Roo" & "Preacher" "Yes Mom, may I help you??"

Keeping his eye on me!

Well, I will start off by saying I watch our horses all day. I am blessed to have acreage right behind our house and I can pretty much see them all day. Having said that, I was in the kitchen washing dishes and looked out to see "Roo" at the hay and "Preacher" laying in it! Well, I do not care how long we have had horses, the sight of a lay ed out horse makes my heart stop. All of our horses sun, even knowing that I watch them and make sure they eventually get up and about. I finished the dishes and he is still lay ed out flat, well I can't stand it anymore and out I go to check on him. As I get closer "Roo" looks up and quits eating-he looks at me and decides I may want something and he walks off, still nothing from "Preacher." I get right up to him and I can see he is breathing. So I decide to take pictures, he hears the camera and lifts his head like "What mom??" Then lays back down and proceeds to watch me with one eye to see what I am going to do. I decide to take more pictures! Of course since I am there I check his gums, pulse and make sure he has good gut sounds. (since I am there and I am that way!!) He is fine, he was just sunning and had a nice little bed right there in the hay!! I tend to error on the safe side, my horses are four legged children!!

PARDNERS IN CRIME!

Here are pardners in crime, Savannah & "Shelby Lynn!" Before I snapped this picture, they were running on top of the hay bales having a great time! Then husband says, "Get off of the hay!" Oops, busted! You can see Savannah's facial expression, do I smile or cry!! It is windy here today and they are calling for some showers this afternoon. Hope you all have a great and blessed day!

WE HAVE HAY!!!!!

We have hay! WHOO HOO!! Hay has been in such high demand since the drought several years ago and expensive! It diffently has been hard to come by. We did find some round bales right here close to the house for a good deal. So last Saturday we moved our hay to the house and are set for quite awhile. That is such a blessing. The horses loved to see it coming! They could hardly wait for the guys to get the string cut!! They have been getting pads of hay with there feed, but to have the round bales they are having a ball! They have been laying in the scrapes on the ground and sunning! We did put 2 bales out, since we have 5 horses eating on them. And since my mare tends to run everyone off! The little pig! Anyway, thank goodness we have hay, that is such a relief not to have to worry about!
